How do I install Mac OS X without destroying the Windows bootsector so I can dual boot these two operatingsystems?
Mountain lion mac ios x windows 7#
Windows 7 is already installed in UEFI mode or whatever this mode is called. I have about the half of my 1,5 TB harddisk free space and I want to install Mac OS X ML in there. Ok I deleted the Mac OS X partition and all other partition exept of the partiton, where Windows is installed in and recreated its efi and msr partition. If there is a similar post or if I am wrong here I am very sorry but i am new to this forum and I lost orientation!

Thanks for your help and sorry for the long post, but I have to tell you everything in order to get reliable help! What can I do to fix that? I can access my jmportant data through mac os x but I want to boot Windows cuz I need it!!! When I choose Win 7 in chameleon it shows me this error message: My problem is that I cant boot into Windows 7 anymore! The Mac OS X installer seems to have deleted the efi and the msr partitions and used them for it's own bootloader. Everything worked after I installed multibeast (I installed chameleon bootloader). Now I installed Mac OS X ML using the unibeast drive I created with my friends Mac Book.

Everything worked and I deleted the backup partition. After that I restored my data from the backup partition I mentioned above. A efi boot partition and a msr partition. One for Windows and one for OS X.Īs the instructions told me, I installed Windows first in UEFI mode. I erased all other partitions and created two new ones. I knew that Windows would not boot anymore so I copied the important data to a partition that I created for this. I've done that using a tool called gparted live cd. In order to do that I had to change my mbr based partition sheme into guid.
