Never found the startup/shutdown to be any part of the fun of real flying. We have a lot of useless planes, bugs and missions,…thats it. I am not realy impressed by Asobo after two years whats is possible to simulate in a modern simualtion and what we have now. But how it realy feels, you have to go out and fly real. It is all about eycandy and technical deepness. If developers says they made this plane with realistic flightdynamics, and made with real pilots…nop. Flying every plane with one and the same joystick, pad or yoke, sitting in a chair is just for fun and study. You have to understand, that every plane in a sim feels unrealistic because of non-realistic aerodynamics and different hardware in any plane. Everybody who loves aviation should also try real flying. It is a mix about eyecandy, after work fly around and technical deepness like pmdg. Up and downdrafts, thermals, Luv and Lee situations are actualy not simulated or not good enough and maybe never will.

Especially small GA aircraft and the lift you can feel by wind and aerodynamic power in your hardware is impossible to simulate.

I was flying motorsailers and actually paragliders. But exactly THIS makes a huge different between simulation and real flying. You can get system an technical deepness in a simulation, but you never will get the aerodynamic feelings you will have in real flights. In my modest efforts and time invested to flight simming, I rarely don’t learn something new week to week.Īs real as it gets. At the same time, I deal with a crying 2-year-old, my aging parents, my social life, and a day job that I actually love more than wanting to be a real pilot.Īnd to the credit of most “study level” plane developers, this is more or less exactly what they do. Walking up to an empty plane - walkaround visual inspection, pulling the flags and covers off - climb in and check the voltage, fuel, lights and controls - going through the checklist, turn on the comm radio and listening to the traffic/atc while prepping for flight, reviewing the flight plan or just checking the weather if its TnG’sĪnd if I could flip every switch and have them all work the way they’re supposed to - and if I could land and taxi to parking, shut everything down, put all the covers and flags back and tie her down - or better yet push her into a hangar - my hangar - at a designated ‘home’ airfield - now that would be the best.
